Western KY Ecumenical Cursillo
This site is dedicated to providing information about the Western Kentucky Ecumenical Cursillo community and upcoming events sponsored by: W KY Ecumenical Cursillo.

You will arrive Thursday at 7:00 pm at Camp Clark for check-in.

What can I expect?

  • A small group representing a variety of denominations, experiencing Christian community together.
  • An informal atmosphere in which spiritual growth is possible and attainable through fellowship and trust.
  • A way of spiritual renewal through teachings, sacraments, devotions, and ministry.
  • An opportunity to renew our basic faith from which action in our church and everyday life will be enriched.
  • A retreat from daily routines including technology such as phones, TV, and the internet.

What will I be doing on the weekend?

  •  Listening to talks and participating in discussions.
  •  Reflecting on values and goals as a Christian.
  •  Communing with God in prayer, both privately and with the entire community.
  •  Celebrating Christianity in joyful liturgies and songs.
  •  Experiencing in many different ways true Christian love and genuine Christian community.

What is expected of me?

  • To be open and willing to respond to what you experience, to share with others, and to allow them to share with you.
  • To make a genuine effort to discover where you are and where you can grow in your Christian life.
  • To feel secure in the knowledge that you are accepted where you are and as you are.
  • To be curious enough and thirsty enough to acknowledge a need to commit a weekend of your life to Christ.
  • At no time will you be asked or expected to do anything which might embarrass you or make you feel uncomfortable.

The Cursillo weekend is attended by about 60 people, including “candidates” and “team”. The “candidates” are people from all walks of life. Many are eager for the enriching experience. Others are curious, and some are apprehensive, therefore the Cursllio tries to meet each individual’s needs during the weekend. The weekend is led by laymen and clergy, who have already attended their Cursillo weekend, they share with you through talks, discussions, food preparation, music, and worship.

What should I bring?

We try to make the Cursillo Weekend as comfortable and affordable as possible.  We supply freshly-made food and great service. We will do all that needs to be done so that you can enjoy your weekend experience.  Our facility is equipped with showers and plenty of bathrooms.

Do you have special Dietary Needs?  Don't worry, we will provide you with food that fits your dietary needs. Simply let your sponsor know in advance of the weekend; that will allow us to prepare for your needs.

You need to provide for your own personal needs, such as bedding, personal care products, and medicine.  Below is a list of items you may want to bring with you.

  • bedding - sheets sized for a twin bed and pillow (or sleeping bag)
  • bathrobe, slippers
  • hair dryer
  • personal hygiene supplies, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc...
  • towels: bath, hand, and washcloth
  • bible (please for this weekend no electronic bibles)
  • Please leave phones at home.

 What about worship?

Meditations and devotional periods are an integral part of the weekend. You will enjoy three days of singing, learning, laughing, worshiping, reflecting, praying, and participating in small groups.  Discussions center around fourteen talks given by laity and clergy. These talks present the theme of God’s grace, how that grace comes alive in the Christian community, and how it is expressed in the world.  You’ll also discover how grace is real in your life, how you live a life of grace, and how you bring that grace to others.

Communion will be offered daily as a part of community life. You will have the opportunity to participate in and to understand more fully the body of Christ. If the discipline of your church will not allow you to participate in this aspect of worship, it is understood. You will experience God’s grace through the prayers and acts of anonymous service offered by the Cursillo community. You will leave with an experience of Christian love in action that will equip you for new levels of grace-filled service and leadership.

What Happens After the Cursillo Weekend?

You are invited to be part of a continuing support group to nurture one another as we work to renew all things in Christ; this is called the Fourth Day.

Cursillorooster

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth. O God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit, we may be truly wise and ever enjoy your consolations. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
