Summer break is underway, and we will have only a June Ultreya throughout. Details below.
Still reflecting on what a blessing our weekends were and how God provided abundantly, including our new home. Will this be our new “permanent home”? We may not have all the answers yet, but we owe it to ourselves to make a go of it and see how Webb Community Church and we feel about it after two years and four weekends. So far SO GOOD! There are small items to improve and educate each other on as the fall weekends approach. The bottom line is that the Fourth Day came together to overcome challenges. The weekends were very well supported in every way, and the location worked well. God is Good!
This summer, John and Krissie will continue their work of assembling teams. You can do your part by putting in a team application if led to do so. Continue in your groups. Focus on your Study, Action, and Piety. This is the foundation for the Cursillo methods that fulfill our mission of building up the local church by developing leaders in the local church.
See you at the June Ultreya at Cairo Methodist. Next Scratchings in August.
Members Present: Stacy Baker, Jason Buckman, Mark Floyd, Debbie Hollowell, Blair Lamb, Clay Norman, Kenny Quinton, Barbara Thomas, Randy Trent, Joey Willett, Sharon Willett
Members Absent: Frank Cates, Grover Fischbeck, Jim Lyon
Guests: Mark Thomas
Meditation: Jason Buckman spoke from Genesis 22 on the sacrifice of Isaac. This is a Christophany. Isaac was the promise—the knife stopped; Jesus was the fulfillment—the knife fell. God was testing Abraham, just as He tests us. Will we really believe what God says? God will provide what we need. We are lacking in righteousness. God made Christ, Who knew no sin, to become sin, so that we could become the righteousness of God. God provides the mercy and the way to the mercy. To Abraham, this must have seemed like a test that makes no sense. It’s how we feel now—we’re a church group kicked out by a church group. But now we are settled in a new place. God will provide for us. There’s a rumbling in the bushes.
Minutes: Minutes of the February 2026 and the March 12 special called meeting were read and approved after a motion by Mark Floyd and second by Randy Trent.
Treasurer’s Report: Barbara Thomas presented the financial reports from February 2026. Reports were approved after a motion by Clay Norman and second by Joey Willett.
Pre Cursillo Report: A lot of work has been done to prepare for the weekends.
Post Cursillo Report: Good turnout for March Ultreya (70+) It was a great turnout, considering the distance of the church and that there was a Formation that morning.
Palanca Report: No Report
Spiritual Director Report: Mike Marsilli has another Catholic deacon who is willing and wanting to come help with the weekends. Ideally, he’d be introduced through an Ultreya first, then bring him in with more weekend service. We want to continue to keep our connection with the Catholic church. Jason and Kenny plan to attend the Cursillo in Peoria in August.
Old Business: Move from Camp Clark has been completed. Building has been moved to Webb, items from Camp Clark have been retrieved, and a letter memorializing same has been signed. $400 covered all moving expenses. A prayer of blessing and thanksgiving was held before leaving Camp Clark for the last time.
Brain Injury Adventure Camp update: There was a meeting with the board on March 2, 2026. Brittany Smith is the BIAC board chair. 1 BIAC board member is also on the church board. The church owns the property. It was a good meeting—the board was welcoming of conversation and they seem open. There are basic drawings of buildings and have confirmed work can be completed without causing any problems with the septic system. At this point, the upcoming Cursillo weekends are our top priority, so we will be waiting before taking any additional steps.
Fundraising update: At the time of the meeting, $25,830.00 had been raised since last Saturday. This will be announced at Formation on Saturday March 21, then fundraising for this particular need will be closed. Praise God! He is our Provider!
Talks: Met with those assigned talks, advised them how to use the talk book and the lay talk book. It was a good meeting and looking forward to talk critiques.
New Business:
Showers: Presentation by Jason Buckman with the assistance of Mark Thomas. Jason provided a handout (see attached) showing a mockup of the shower trailer buildout. It will have appropriate flooring, drain lines, hookups, water heaters, etc. There is a good set up at Webb with electric and water hookups and drains. It will take 3-4 weeks to build out the trailer once everything needed (trailer, shower units, etc.) is in place. That work will be starting soon with skilled 4th day who have committed to help on the project. Estimated cost for the complete build out—including purchase of the trailer—is $18,000 to $20,000. Purchasing a ready made shower trailer is $48,000. We will publish a video walkthrough of the shower trailer once it is completed. Motion to build the shower trailer made by Sharon Willett. Second by Clay Norman. Motion passed unanimously.
Beds: We received estimates for rollaway beds as an option. These were very expensive and do not store well. Suggestion was made to consider camping beds. A camping bed will be brought to Formation and members present will vote. Bed options were presented at formation. Decision to purchase air mattresses was made. Air mattresses have been purchased.
Firewatch: At Webb, everything is basically contained within the church building. There is no outside area like our previous locations. YES meets at Webb and does not have fire watch on their weekends. A motion was made by Randy Trent and seconded by Stacy Baker to suspend Firewatch while we are at Webb. Motion carried.
It’s time to turn the focus of the community back to the weekends. God has provided. Our shower and bed issues are being resolved. It’s time to refocus on the weekends.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned after a motion by Randy Trent and second by Blair Lamb.
Respectfully submitted,
