Dear Family,

2 Timothy 3:14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it...
Beginning April 23 and ending May 3, the Western Kentucky Ecumenical Cursillo will do what has been done 191 times over 53 years at eight locations Have Weekends. Praise God!
The time has come to focus intently on what we know how to do. Brian and Jennifer have completed their teams, and Team Formations begin on March 14. Women do have a few slots open if led -
Apply as soon as possible or contact Jennifer.

What are some important items to focus on this month?

  1. Prayer - Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
  2. Candidates - Prayerfully begin inviting. Most are “busy.” Get on their calendar early.
  3. Prayer Charts – Soon they will be published, let’s fill them early and take that off the teams.
  4. Meal Serving Charts – Let’s see if Fourth Day outside the teams can fill most slots.
  5. Please allow for a few more emails this season as we work to communicate with you. Also, pay attention to our Facebook page for immediate needs.
Here are three items that need your attention.
  1. Mobile Showers: With our move to Webb, we need to provide additional showers, and a mobile shower trailer appears to be the most likely solution. These can be expensive. If you know of a source that could help keep costs down, please contact Jason or me.
  2. Beds: We will provide specific guidance on our bed needs. Please watch for that information.
  3. March 14 Ultreya – For the first time, Life in Christ Church in Marion will host an Ultreya. Please make this a priority, as it will be the first time our community has gathered there for worship and fellowship. It is also scheduled on the same day as our first Team Formation. If possible, family, let’s make a good first impression by showing up, worshipping, and fellowshipping together.

Family, let’s not allow the noise to rise to the level of distraction. I wish all of you could have witnessed the overwhelming faithfulness of God these past three weeks. For the board, Jason and me, it could have easily been a time of frustration and doubts, but instead God overwhelmed us with His presence and provision.

Yes, we are having weekends.

I fondly remember Gary Turner describing these weekends as “one part method and one part miracle. Beginning with the first Team Formation and continuing through each weekend, we will diligently follow and faithfully trust the method while completely relying on the miracle. The Cursillo weekends and movement are consistently special. Spencer Quick best described it as “a wonderful and stunning movement of spiritual renewal.”

Yes, one thing will be different this time. For the first time at a Sunday Closing, candidates will stand behind the podium and say they attended their Cursillo at Webb Memorial. And then, just as we have witnessed for 53 years, each will testify to His goodness.

Board Meeting
January 15th, 2026

Members Present: Stacy Baker, Jason Buckman, Frank Cates, Grover Fischbeck, Mark Floyd, Debbie Hollowell, Blair Lamb, Jim Lyon, Clay Norman, Kenny Quinton, Barbara Thomas, Randy Trent, Sharon Willett
Members Absent: Joey Willett
Guests: Jeanette Miller, Chris Trainer, Chris Willett

Meditation: Jason Buckman discussed the relationship between David and Jonathan from 1 Samuel 18 and 19. They had a powerful friendship. They won battles together and were sharpened by each other. It was a key friendship. They were drawn together in the Spirit of the Lord. Our Cursillo friends are similar. Think of how many friendships we develop on the weekends and through Cursillo. These are friends that sharpen us and help us in our battles. We are drawn together in the Spirit of the Lord.

Minutes: Minutes of the November 2025 meeting were read and approved after a motion by Grover Fischbeck and second by Clay Norman.

Treasurer’s Report: Barbara Thomas presented the financial reports from November and December 2025. Reports were approved with a motion by Blair Lamb and second by Frank Cates.

Pre Cursillo Report: The window frame panels in the cafeteria have been repaired. Otherwise, no report.

Post Cursillo Report:  There was a good turnout for Ultreya in December—approximately 98 people. All the tables were full. Several were attending their first Ultreya. The Church was nice and the sound was good. The next Ultreya is February 7 at Chapel Hill.

Palanca Report: No Report.

Spiritual Director Report:  Thankful for our strong willing group. There’s a need to tighten up some talks and clean up some outlines. There is an open invitation to attend the Cursillo weekend in Peoria, Illinois.

Old Business:
Everyone called to serve on Secretariat said yes.
The storage building located at Camp Clark will be moved to Bro. Jerry Liggett’s house. Items in the storage building need to be moved out. There is a need to purge unused items from the building.
We need to schedule a workday to clean out at Camp Clark—both the storage building and the closet outside the conference room. The trailer also needs to be cleaned and organized.
With the storage building moving from Camp Clark, we may need a logistics team for the weekend.

New Business:
The historic minutes have been digitized for archiving.
There is work on a database for teams and talks. It includes search capabilities. A mockup should be available for the next meeting.

Discussion was then had about next steps for the weekend locations. For both spring and fall weekends in 2026, we are scheduled for Camp Clark. It is important to remember we have moved before and God will provide during this season.  Please pray for our next steps. There is a call to our entire Cursillo community to pray for God’s guidance as we make the next steps.

Locations Discussed:
The old Corydon school is cost prohibitive. The building is in rough condition—too rough to be repaired for our use.

Sarto’s House has very limited availability (1 weekend in 2026 and 2 weekends in 2027). It is very nice, but very expensive. Cost is $45/person/night and additional costs over that.

There is a possibility of reworking a coal mine bath house. We are still in the very early preliminary stages of talks with the company. It’s a big area with a lot of space, a lot of bathrooms. The kitchen would be the biggest expense. It would be a big job, but it is an option. There is also the possibility of partnership with Great Banquet to share some expenses.

Brain Injury Adventure Camp is an excellent facility, but is not feasible the way it is now. The director is open to Cursillo and is a member of 4th day. It’s a large facility and there are opportunities there. It would need some extra bunk areas, more bathrooms, a kitchen, and possibly a sanctuary. It already has sewer and water. It is expensive, but there could be ways to offset that, if we add value with the additions, we would need for the facility to work for us.

The 2027 spring and fall weekends are tentatively on the Brain Injury Adventure Camp calendar. The feasibility team should bring a report to the next meeting. If this seems to be the direction, we would like to have an Ultreya there in the summer so the community can see the facility.

Again, there is a call to our entire Cursillo community to pray for God’s guidance as we make the next steps.

With no further business the meeting was adjourned after a motion by Grover Fischbeck and seconded by Blair Lamb.

Respectfully submitted,
Megan Randolph, Secretary
