Wow, this set of weekends seems to be upon us unusually fast! All has gone well, even with our creative efforts to cover every music need for the weekend. Perhaps afterward, we’ll share some of those details. It’s always a blessing to watch God do a new thing!
It’s also deeply encouraging to see an enthusiastic group of men and women bond together as teams—through worship, joyful fellowship, and the right mix of seriousness for the task. God is GOOD, and we can trust that He will accomplish the rest.
Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Fourth Day, we ask just a few things of you: pray, and make time for these weekends. When we attended our own weekend, it was the flood of prayers and sacrifices that God used to overwhelm our hearts. Drop by drop, each act of loving sacrifice is used by God to wash away resistance and draw the candidates’ hearts closer to Him—and ours as well.
As our dear friend Gary Turner would often say as we stood on the doorstep of another weekend, “Do it again, Lord… do it again.”

Please consider writing a Palanca letter for each candidate. Remember, a Palanca is a personal act of sacrifice or prayer offered on their behalf, which you share about in your letter.
Members Present: Stacy Baker, Jason Buckman, Jason Hedrick, Donna Jewell, Blair Lamb, Jim Lyon, Clay Norman, Megan Randolph, Kenny Quinton, Barbara Thomas, Mark Thomas, Randy Trent, Joey Willett Members Absent: Keith Buckman Guests: David and Jill Burgett
Meditation: Jason Buckman opened with the statement that God has a promise and offers comfort to each one of us. Scriptures mentioned were Isiah 51, Galatians 3:23-29, 1 Corinthians. God’s way may be unpredictable or slow to reveal in our eyes. He gave examples of how God blessed Abraham for generations. He asked each member present in what areas we have faith and what areas we need to have more faith.
Minutes: Minutes of the May 2025 meeting were read and approved after a motion by Clay Norman and second by Randy Trent
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer’s report was given by Barbara Thomas. for the months of April, May, June and July 2025. Reports approved after a motion by Blair Lamb and second by Jim Lyon
Spiritual Director’s Report: Jason reported he had received commitments for all the Spiritual Directors contacted and he will begin to assign talks.
Post Cursillo Report: Chris Trainer reported attendance at the August Ultreya was 70+. Next Cursillo will be September 13th at Sebree Baptist Church.
Old Business: Joey Willett and Keith Buckman are making progress on updating all the current songbooks. A reminder was made that all the songs on the weekends and Ultreyas were to come out of the Cursillo songbook. The exception is the weekend theme song selected by the rector/rectora for the weekend.
A comment was made that the outlines for all the talks at the weekends should follow the talk given. In the past some of the outlines were not updated when the talks were updated.
A discussion was held regarding a way for some of the smaller churches that host Ultreyas to have help with food donations. If needed, a request could be made on the 4th Day Facebook page or other Cursillo communications. The September Ultreya will be 5pm September 13th at Sebree Baptist Church. Due to the fact the Ultreya is the evening of the first formation, help will probably be requested. The December Ultreya will be potluck with Cursillo furnishing the meat. Location to be announced.
New Business: Both David and Jill Burgett stated that everything was going well. The big need is for instrumental musicians for both weekends.
A notation was made that all music for formations, weekends and Ultreyas should come from the Cursillo song books. Kenny stated that they had contacted every musician that was suggested. The problem seems to be the commitment of the 5 Saturdays of formations plus the four days of the weekends. Several past musicians are working on a possible solution that will probably be different from what has been done in the past.
Voting for the spring 2026 Rector/ Rectora will be held at the September meeting. Donna will mail current lists to board members.
Everyone was asked to think/pray about the current board member attendance policy to discern if it should be amended or changed to be discussed at the September meeting.
Kenny announced that Megan Randolph will replace Donna Jewell as board secretary beginning January 2026.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned after a motion by Mark Thomas and second by Clay Norman.
